The desk was running a six-figure-a-year vendor portfolio-monitoring platform plus the Bloomberg Server API it required — for seventeen users. We replaced it with a system built around how the desk actually worked: real-time P&L across the book from live Bloomberg prices, capital structure, fund and index performance, full trade history and charting, an options monitor, and commission tracking by broker and fund — plus fixes for swap unit-cost and cross-currency FX P&L the old system got wrong.
It cut the annual run cost to about a third of the old platform’s, with no user cap and no per-seat licence — and paid for itself inside twelve months.
